The Barking Gumnut Caravan Club began arriving at Wyalkatchem Travellers Park on Thursday, with most members joining by Friday
After the club members had settled in on Thursday night, the fire was lit and Happy Hour began
Friendly conversations filled the caravan park as the club members made exciting plans for the next day.
Happy Hour ran a bit longer than usual and soon every one was heading back to their vans.
The remaining club members arrived on Friday, and after a group meeting in the Kevin Jones Camp Kitchen, they set out to explore the delights of Wyalkatchem.
That night the club members all meet at the local Wyalkatchem Hotel for dinner.
The Hotel had set up a special area and table for the club.
The meals came out quick, hot and tasty.
As the club members began enjoying their meals, one of the councillors from the Wyalkatchem Shire, Cr Chris Loton, joined the table. He was introduced to the group and warmly welcomed the club to Wyalkatchem, thanking them for choosing to stay in our town
After the meal, the club members returned to the Travellers Park, where an intense card game began and continued late into the night. Sheep stations were won and lost — or at least, that’s how it sounded!
The following morning some of the club members headed to the Wyalkatchem Garden Cafe to enjoy a hearty breakfast, before heading over to the museum and op-shop.
From the glowing feedback received, breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed and the new museum exhibits were very well received.
Members of the Wyalkatchem community welcomed the club members, stopping to chat with them in the café and around town as they explored our friendly town.
The club members met back at the Travellers Park and organised a social dinner in the Kevin Jones Camp Kitchen.
The camp kitchen was transformed into a cosy restaurant, complete with marquees and windbreaks set up all around to create a warm, sheltered atmosphere.
The night was filled with laughter, delicious food, and as the evening went on, the stories of past trips became even more entertaining and exaggerated.
The members, reluctantly, called it a night and returned to their caravans to rest before departing the next morning.
